History Rewritten

One of the many historical events I tapped for my novel, The Curse of Dracula’s Treasure (in progress), is Nicolae Ceaușescu’s commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the death of Vlad Țepeș (AKA Dracula). During his dictatorial rein, Ceaușescu ordered his historians to reach back through time and reveal Romania’s cherished heroes as incipient socialists. He then celebrated their new-to-them ideas with cultural displays, articles, and yes, postage stamps. Vlad Țepeș was sucked into the mix in 1976. I purchased this fun memento early in my research.

Thank you for all your congratulations over the big step with my novel. It’s been a long time in development, and I feel great having come this far.

I’m so excited. Here’s the proof copy of my modern Gothic horror novel, in progress, that I’ve sent to beta readers to receive feedback. I still have a lot of work to do, but reaching this stage is huge. I’ve promised myself not to start editing again until after Thanksgiving. Seeing the words on a page of a book really lights up my brain.
